American mathematician who established the concept of Nash equilibrium and made major contributions to game theory and differential geometry.
John Nash introduced equilibrium concepts that changed economics and decision theory. His 1950 and 1951 papers gave a general existence theorem for finite games, while his work on isometric embeddings and partial differential equations influenced geometry and analysis. He shared the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and received the 2015 Abel Prize.
