AlgebraTopologyFoundations of mathematics
Polish-American mathematician who co-founded category theory and established the axiomatic language of homological algebra.
Samuel Eilenberg introduced category theory with Saunders Mac Lane and developed the foundations of algebraic topology and homological algebra. His work with Henri Cartan produced the Cartan–Eilenberg treatment of homological algebra, while his later work connected automata theory, category theory, and computation.
